Changing the Old and making it New!!! Addition Phase 1

Well first of all, let me say how blessed and lucky Jordan and I are to have each other, and two amazing families that will help out in any way they can to make our dreams a reality. In the past few weeks we have set a wedding date (June 20, 2015), booked a venue, and began the renovations/addition to the old farm house we will make our home. It has been a whirlwind, but it has been the most amazing experience, so far.

See if you know us at all, this fits Jordan and I. With the love of my family heritage and genealogy, and his love of anything rustic, antique, and out-doors we are making our dream home (for now) come to life. It has been a long process leading up to this point, but we have finally began construction on the house and things are moving a long pretty quickly! First came the digging of the foundation.

You see it doesn't look that big, but just wait, it will.

It is a 12x36 addition that will hold a sunroom, the extension of the kitchen, and more space in the master bedroom with a bathroom and a walk-in closet.

The cement came next.

This part made me really excited because I knew they would start laying the brick after it was dry.

Here is the brick being started. This will be our crawl space under this side of the house.

More views of the addition (I cannot wait until that wall comes down).

And the foundation is finished.

The new brick matched almost perfectly to the old part of the house.

Next, the contractor was able to lay the flooring on the new part. We can walk on it!!

Another view.

And once again. This will look amazing when the old exterior wall is taken down.

Oh wait! We have framing ladies and gentlemen. The front you see there is going to be another window, and there will also be one additional one on the side. We are loving how it looks right now, and it is adding, so much to the house already!

This back section with the four corner windows will be our sunroom. French doors will lead into it, and there will be SO much light.

The two smaller windows demonstrate where the kitchen sick will be located.

While taking this picture I was standing in our future master bathroom and closet!

As you can see, everything is coming along smoothly. This week the roof is supposed to go on, and possibly some deconstruction of the old exterior wall. We are so very excited about what is happening right now in our lives.

Jordan and I will both finish up our first years of teaching this week on Thursday!! We have made big decisions regarding the house and our wedding. Our summer is looking extremely hectic (my Europe trip and family vacations), but we are ready for the challenge and hopefully getting one step closer to finishing our house and becoming Mr. and Mrs. Jessup.
